The Razor Blade Tape Measure, or Razor Tape™ can measure a length of board and immediately mark a square cut off line. It can be used to layout perpendicular lines or measure angles.
By extending the tape measure, one side of the Carpenter’s Square can be made very large.
And best of all, the high tensile, extremely thin, stainless steel razor blade creates an incredibly sharp and durable cutting blade, much sharper than a traditional pocket knife or typical utility knife.
It easily cuts almost anything, including; wood, plastic, rubber, fabric, gyproc wallboard, tape, string, cardboard, plastic packaging and more. It can open paint cans, drive screws, fix toys or appliances, open product packaging safely, strip electrical wires, clean fish, fix bikes, and much, much more.
The blade arm has an integral arm locking mechanism, a sheathed razor blade knife, a wire stripper and a protractor. When not in use, the blade arm folds neatly out of the way and locks in the closed position in the base of the housing. A set of screwdrivers is pivotably mounted on the back of the housing. Individual screwdrivers pivot open to stick out the rear of the housing assembly.
Holding the housing in the palm of your hand, when opened, the screwdrivers stick out, ready for use. With all components of the tool locked in the fully closed position, the Razor Tape is the same general size and shape as a standard tape measure of similar length.
With all components of the tool permanently fastened to the housing assembly (except the replaceable razor blade), individual tools will never be lost or misplaced. The Razor Tape straight edge arm can be manually opened or spring powered to snap open like a switchblade. The adjustable blade sheath controls the amount of razor exposed, thereby controlling the cutting depth. A rough prototype has been built for testing and trial use. Industrial Design is underway.
Often Multi-tools have a combination of tools which do not compliment each other, or the final shape or size is not practical or visually pleasing. The Razor Tape includes a selection of tools which compliment each other and the design pays close attention to how they fit together.
